U Design Week | When LEGO’s Paradise Meets the Children’s Day

After attending U Design Week (UDW) in Hangzhou at the beginning of June, I felt more and more that it was an amazing and interesting exhibition. Design Week was originally launched in 2019 by a group of Alibaba designers in conjunction with a wide range of ecological partners, covering the Ucan design professional forums, Usee Design Art Exhibition, Uwin Design Industry Accelerator three core panels, and then constantly extended to become an industry event, to 2023 to be held for only three, the exhibition organiser, Alibaba, carries its own flow of body mass, and the scene is even more of its brand fancy appearance! Help, online and offline linkage, so that it has a super high exposure rate in the major online platforms.

June 1-4, more than 500 brands, 200 big guests, 200 domestic and foreign artists gathered in Hangzhou International Expo Centre.

With the theme of “Designed by U”, this year’s Design Week follows the current hot topics, discusses new ways of creation in the age of AI, pays tribute to the times with design, and anchors the uncertain future with design vision.

The ‘LEGO’s Paradise’ made its debut at the Lifestyle Exhibition in the form of a SHOP shop, and through the setting of an experience + purchase scenario, it presented a lonely yet lively exhibition in the pavilion where blind box fashion and games are popular.

From LEGO’s Paradise to Shop

Few people know, ‘GWONG TAU ZAI’ is from LEGO LIANG’s painting more than ten years ago in an ordinary children’s day, he used a few simple strokes outlined a five short body, no five senses, incomplete hands and toes of the little fat man, in his first collection of cartoons published, this little fat man was officially named bald boy, from a children’s day to another children’s day, the whole year of daily, so that the image of bald boy into the the minds of a portion of the population.

In the past few years, the image of ‘GWONG TAU ZAI’ has been extended with sculptures, paintings, dolls, scent diffusers, tissue boxes, bags, art lamps, carpets, coffee tables, chairs and other objects, which have made the image of ‘GWONG TAU ZAI’ come alive in people’s minds.

In 2019, the epidemic swept across the world, LEGO is still facing the world, and decided to work with artists and designers around the world to design a daily home space that is close to people’s daily life, to fill the vacancy of people’s spirit and emotion in the era of rampant materialism and desire.

The ‘LEGO’s Paradise’ was born accordingly, and all kinds of products based on the images of ‘GWONG TAU ZAI’, GATO Cat and JoJo Bear began to penetrate all levels of human senses, forming a unique scene.

The more representative scenes living room, pleasure reading, micro-brewery, music space, presenting experience space on the scene of U Design Week.

If these areas are sorted by traffic, the micro-brewery corner must be in the front position.

After a busy day at work, one comes home to a small piece of space that belongs to oneself, a small piece of time that belongs to oneself, to do what one likes, to listen to one’s favourite music, and to create a little bit of fun for a mediocre life.

The ‘LEGO’s Paradise’ shop is exactly where people can easily bring home the scene or one of the works after experiencing these scenes based on their own preference.

Enjoy the Children’s Day with ‘GWONG TAU ZAI’

The exhibition coincided with the June 1, Children’s Day, and during these four days, the children were almost uninterrupted, and it was probably one of the most enjoyable exhibitions for the children to play.

From the smallest plant or lamp to the largest painting, a seat or a sofa …… in the noisy booth, it can be a heartfelt fun among the little ones.

Many of our older friends, who have passed the age of children, have briefly become children here, like the ‘GWONG TAU ZAI’, putting down their pride and utilitarianism, and unfolding their imagination of life with a clean and pure heart.

We believe that the real world is always made up of vivid touches and memories, just as tiny atoms can spell out the vastness of the universe, all kinds of tiny senses can also spell out a home.
